A regular visitor to James Joyce and his family in early 1920s Paris, he also associated with W. B Yeats and George Russell. He interviewed Modigliani just two weeks before his (Modigliani's ) death. After returning from Paris he became the art critic for the Irish Times. From the 1950s he focussed increasingly on painting, becoming a regular exhibitor at the RHA (Royal
