What the general fund is

The general fund is the path for a gift that is not assigned to one of the four causes.

A general gift is not tied to zakat or sadaqah on the form. It can go to a cause or to the general fund.

The four public causes are education, healthcare, food parcels with clothes and blankets, and women empowerment.
